Is there a specific type of rum that is used for pina colada's?

I rented a margarita machine for a party and have some pina colada mix that I want to use, but am not sure what type of rum to use. Some ppl say white rum, coconut rum, plain rum. I dont know what will work best. I am not looking for making strong pina coladas, just something that one can enjoy. Thanks
